About

Artist and Milliner, Alexandra Norton

For the weird, witchy, and whimsical…

Hummingbird’s Blooms spawned from artist, Alexandra Norton’s life long passion for the weird, whimsical, and all things nature.

A second generation milliner and lifelong sewist, Alex learned at a young age how to sew and craft from the amazing women in her life: her beloved mother and grandmothers.

The Art: Alex’s art pieces range from original art in the form of stickers, prints, upcycled clothing, accessories, & everything in between! Alex uses the cyanotype print process to make custom botanical prints on all sorts of natural fibers, including cotton, linen, silk, wood, leather, & sea shells. All of her prints incorporate flowers & plant matter grown and foraged on her farm in Saratoga Springs. Alex’s cyanotypes are truly From Seed to Print!

The Books: The shop features titles in subjects that Alex is passionate about including Spirituality, Herbalism, Gardening, Foraging, and Nature. Hummingbird’s carries many field guides pertaining to the Northeast/New England, as well.

The Hats: Nightbird Millinery is the hat making studio located within Hummingbird’s. Using techniques taught to her by her dearest Nanny Jean, Alex creates wearable pieces of art. She crafts heirloom quality hats with a wide variety of materials including secondhand, vintage, & deadstock materials.

Everything Else: In addition to all of the art, books, & hats the shop also carries a wide variety of supplies for the Craft. Hummingbird’s stocks ritual candles, herbs, resins, and other supplies. Alex also handcrafts/”dresses & blesses” ritual candles for all different rituals & occasions.

Alex is passionate about supporting other local makers, small businesses, and artists by carrying their products in store. Hummingbird’s currently stocks: soy candles from The Little Norwegian Candle Co., greeting cards from Canned Worms Fine Art, locally grown seeds from Bentley Seed Co., lollipops & candy from Virgo Moon and handforged items from Fitch Farm Forge.
